TABERNAS DESERT      HORSE RIDING     DIVING     WATER PARK     BEACHES

The Tabernas Desert, 25 km north of Almeria has for decades provided film makers with suitable locations for a range of movies set in the frontier land of the "wild west". As Europe's only real desert the dramatic natural scenery continues to inspire a number of directors that has included Sergio Leone. The Spaghetti Westerns of the late 60's were all filmed here in one of three film sets in the area.

Mini Hollywood, Almeria
Western Leone, Almeria   All are now open to the public as theme parks and some continue as film sets. Texas Hollywood, Mini Hollywood and Western Leone all provide a flavour of the "Wild West" and will present you with some familiar scenes. They all provide daily shows recreating the Wild West. All the parks are within a few kilometres of each other 25 km north of Almeria city on the A370 west of Tabernas.
Mini Hollywood even has a zoo with exotic birds, African animals and reptiles offering walking tours and jeep safaris. It is best to check the opening times of the parks when you know your travel dates.

HORSE RIDING                                                                                                          BACK TO TOP

The beauty of Andalucia is the diverse geography of the region. On the one hand is one of the remaining unspoilt areas of the Mediterranean coast - Costa Almeria, on the other hand is the Sierra Cabrerras. That contrast means that you could be riding along the beach or trekking through the stunning scenery of the Sierra Cabrerras Mountains. Either way it is set to be a stunning riding experience.
These three centres are all within 20 minutes of Valle del Este.
